Lindsay Gumaskas Artistic Director (Jazz and Tap)

Lindsay began dancing at an early age at Stage One Dance Studio in Fullerton, California. She continued her training at Riverside City College in all dance genres and enhanced her modern training with the company Lux Boreal. Lindsay has dual Associate of Arts degrees, in transfer studies and in Fine and Applied Arts. As a competitive dancer, Lindsay won numerous awards at some of the country’s top competition circuits in all varieties of dance. She was a soloist with Dance Rave and performed in London, England with Varsity Spirit. She danced in the XXXVII Super Bowl Halftime Show plus many more performances in Southern California. Her teaching experience began with pre-school dance and adult tap. She went on to teach hip hop, jazz, tap and lyrical and is an accomplished choreographer. PSD instructor since 2014.

PAMELA CHANEY: Administrative Director (Tap, Pilates)

Co-Founder and Instructor, Pacific Dance Spectrum 1989-1995; Instructor, Southwestern Oregon Community College; Studied and taught tap since 1990; ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, certified in Power Pilates© Beginning and Intermediate Mat. PSD co-founder, director and instructor since 1995.

MARCIE LAKEY: (Jazz)

Trained with Dance Unlimited of Oregon (DUO), Roseburg, OR and Pacific Dance Spectrum, Coos Bay, OR. Owner/Dance Instructor/Choreographer Marcie's "Dance for You" studio in Woodland, CA; Dance instructor Pacific Dance Spectrum (Including outreach in North Bend, Myrtle Point and Cocquille); Woodland, California Parks and Recreation; In Shape City, Denair Elementary and Middle School. AFAA Certified Fitness Instructor, Cross Court Athletic Club, Woodland, CA. Performed with Extraordinary Students of America in New York and Europe performing group; Tremain Dance Competition in Las Vegas. PSD Instructor from 1990-1999 and since 2008.

MARIA ROSMAN: (Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Pre Ballet)

Maria was raised in Coos Bay, taking ballet with various teachers who moved to town. She studied ballet and modern dance techniques with Pat Hon and Wade Manson at Cornish College of the Arts and graduated 1996 with a BFA in dance. While in Seattle, she performed with Christina Dillard's Big Red Dance Co. (1995-98, 2001) and The Wylie's Bleeding Hearts Ensemble (2000-2003). Maria moved Back to Coos Bay and began teaching ballet and modern dance at Pacific School of Dance from 2007 to the present. Maria has choreographed for PSD, as well as Ballet Pacific since 2007. In the summers of 2017, 2019 & 2021 she furthered her training, attending a dance teachers' workshop with The Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

CHRISTINE RADER: (Ballet, Pointe, Progressing Ballet Technique)

Christine Rader began her early dance training at Jacqueline’s School of Ballet at age 9 and joined the Utah Youth Ballet (Now Utah Metropolitan Ballet II) in Lindon, Utah at age 13. She then studied with Willam F. Christensen for 5 years at the Christensen Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mrs. Rader was a guest artist with the Utah Opera Company, dancing in Die Fledermaus and Aida. Christine attended the Pacific Northwest Ballet Summer Intensive Program with a scholarship for two consecutive years. Mrs. Rader was awarded the 4 year Willam F. Christensen Scholarship for the University of Utah, Department of Ballet, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Christine danced with Ballet West for 3 seasons, 1984-1986, where she performed in ballets such as: Vespri, La Sylphide, Western Symphony, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Abdullah, and Swan Lake. While in Salt Lake City, Mrs. Rader was an instructor at The Ballet Centre in 1990, and later, continued her education of ballet at Ruth Page Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago, Illinois. In the summer of 2017, 2019 and 2022 she continued her training, by attending the Ballet Teacher’s Workshop at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and has recently been certified in teaching Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). Christine has been an instructor for Pacific School of Dance since 2006, teaching ballet technique, pointe, variations, pas de deux, and PBT. She took over as Artistic Director of the school from 2013-2022. In 2010 she was named co-artistic director of Ballet Pacific, and was promoted to Artistic Director in 2013-present.

ALISON BINGHAM (Registrar, Creative Movement)

After spending many years with us as a parent volunteer, Alison became the school’s registrar in 2011. Along with her office duties, in 2015 she began learning and teaching the new format of a quality preschool dance program that is fun, imaginative and inspiring for budding dancers ages 3 and 4. These unique, theme-based classes, combined with her previous experience as a professional nanny has elevated the excellence of our curriculum.

Celena Dawson (Contemporary, Pre-tap, Pre-ballet, Hip-Hop)

Celena began her training at Pacific School of Dance at an early age, studying ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. She also practiced music and martial arts for many years. At age 16, she became a founding member of Ballet Pacific, a local pre professional ballet company. After graduating high school, she continued her dance studies at a higher level, spending two years at University of Oregon and three years at Cornish College of the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in Dance. While at U of O, she was selected for choreographic works by Shannon Mockli and Katie Scherman, and in 2014 attended ACDFA Northwest Conference Converging Communities as an ensemble performer in Scherman's work, We Then I. Additionally, while attending Cornish College, she was a featured dancer in works by choreographers Wade Madsen, Amy O'Neal, Marie Chong, and Paula Peters. In 2017, she received a Bachelor Degree of the Fine Arts from Cornish and has since been pursuing her career as a performer, dance teacher and independent choreographer. PSD instructor since 2015.

Heather Dillon: (Ballet, Creative Movement and Primary)

I began dancing at the age of five and trained in the French School of Ballet. It was while building a dance foundation that I became aware of the many benefits it brings beyond just the discipline.

After graduating from high school, I toured with a small dance traveling dance company out of Tulsa, Oklahoma for three years. It was traveling and dancing internationally that opened my eyes to the beautiful way dance bridges language and cultural barriers. In 2001 I stepped out and opened my own dance studio in Lynden, Washington, A Gift of Dance. My passion for teaching was ignited and I was artistic director and lead dance instructor for nine years. I also gained training in the Vaganova method of Ballet at Northwest Ballet Academy as an instructor.

Dance at it’s core builds character and poise. It is my desire to teach proper technique in an encouraging and gracious environment. I am honored to be a part of the vision Pacific School of Dance has for dance in the south coast community

GUEST TEACHERS

CAROLINE WRIGHT

Caroline began her dance training at the early age of three in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she spent 15 years studying under and training with numerous professional choreographers and instructors in NYC, LA, Orlando, and Las Vegas. Her collegiate career began at the University of South Carolina as a dance company member and served on the faculty as a conservatory instructor. Following her dreams of becoming a triple threat, she transferred to Coastal Carolina University where she earned a BA in Musical Theatre. A proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association, Caroline has worked professionally as a performer, choreographer, judge, and master instructor across the country. She played on the Broadway National Tour of Legally Blonde, the Musical. Favorite regional theater work includes Theatre by the Sea, Ogunquit Playhouse, Atlantic Stage Theatre Company, and Rivertown Theaters. Spending the past two years in New Orleans, she taught 12 classes a week at Encore Dance Studio in the styles of Musical Theater, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet. As a resident choreographer at Rivertown Theaters, she choreographed 6 mainstage productions and was last seen playing “Ulla” in their production of The Producers. In her time off, Caroline worked as a background actor and stand-in on the sets of NCIS: NOLA, Astronaut Wives Club, American Horror Story, the HBO series Quarry, and the newest Will Ferrell movie, Daddy’s Home. She is currently living in Astoria, OR where she can be found at Maddox Dance Studio teaching Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theater.

TREVOR MILES

Trevor Miles (Coos Bay, OR) began his dance training at the Pacific School of Dance at age 17, under the direction of Christine Rader and Connie Hogge. He has studied on scholarship at the American Ballet Theater in New York, as well as Milwaukee Ballet in Wisconsin. Miles attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, where he performed works by Ohad Naharin, Pat Hon, Timothy Lynch, Kate Wallich, and many others. While in Seattle he also danced as a company member with Ashani Dances, under Artistic Director, Iyun Harrison. Currently in New York he has danced In companies such as; Ballet Hispanico (Second Company), Peridance, and Company of Dance Arts. Alongside concert dance, Trevor is signed with The Mine Talent Agency, where he is pursuing a career in musical theater. Trevor has taught at The Academy of Dance Arts, and Pacific School of Dance, where he choreographed the original work, "Hallelujah".

KATHRYN GABEL
Trained at the Erie School of Ballet, Erie, PA; Clay Ballet School, Verhill, MA; Boston Ballet. Performed with Erie Ballet Company. Instructor, Bandon Dance Club 1996; Southwestern Oregon CC, 2001-2004. PSD Instructor since 1996

JOAN SANDERS-SElDEL
Trained with Nicholas Vasileieff, Portland, OR; Ballet Theatre School and School of American Ballet, NYC. Soloist, American Festival Ballet, Nederland Dans Theatre; Co-founder, Sanders Ballet academy, The Hague; Ballet faculty 23 years, North Carolina School of the Arts; Master Program instructor, Pacific Dance Spectrum, 1991-1995; PSD instructor since 1995.

MARY PAULA

Trained extensively with Gladys Kenny Hodgson of the Chicago Opera Ballet, is a product of the San Francisco Ballet School under the direction of Harold Christensen and is a charter member of the Marin Ballet Company (Leona Norman, Director) and Bay Area Ballet Company (currently titled Lines).

Dominated the ballet scene from 1958 - 1982 as founder and director of the Petaluma School of Ballet, producing the annual Nutcracker Ballet with guest artists from San Francisco Ballet, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Wizard of Oz., and established the Petaluma City Ballet. Many of her former students have gone on to professional careers in the dance world. Selling the school in 1982, Mrs. Paula has taught in numerous ballet schools bringing her choreographic skills, enthusiasm and precise technical information to multiple levels of students.

Moving to Oregon in 1997, Mrs. Paula has continued to teach, coach and offers private and semi-private classes for the serious students of ballet.

ANGELA STEIDL

Ms. Steidl's early training began with her mother, Mary Paula, founder of Petaluma School of Ballet. She continued her training with San Francisco Ballet School under the direction of Richard Cammack and an outstanding faculty that included Christine Bering, Christine Busch, Zola Dishong, Zelda Mortimor, and Anatole Vilzak. Ms. Steidl performed in San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker, school demonstrations and danced throughout Northern California as a guest artist for many years. Traveling to Russia, Ms Steidl had the opportunity to observe the International Ballet Competitions and participated in ballet classes in Moscow and St. Petersburg, providing the experience of a life time! Teaching has always been part of Ms. Steidl's training and she enjoys sharing her love of dance with students of all levels. She taught in the San Francisco bay area extensively before relocating to Wisconsin where she taught for Milwaukee Ballet School for many years. Returning to the West Coast she has been a guest teacher for Pacific School of Dance and enjoys working with the dancers and continues to coach and rehearse Ballet Pacific Company members.

NICK PEREGRINO

Nick began his training at Pacific School of Dance in Coos Bay, Oregon and later at the Oregon Ballet Academy under the direction of John Grensback. In 2009 he received a full scholarship to train at The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia. Since then, he has danced with Roxy Ballet, Peoria Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet Theatre. BalletFleming, Suzanne Farrell Ballet, among others.
